Enquet'Action mourns the death of Francesca Theosmy, our editorial writer

Enquet'Action, the online news and investigative media, is deeply saddened to announce the death of its editorial writer and publisher Francesca Théosmy, following a long illness which she courageously endured for many years.

Francesca Theosmy's departure from Enquet'Action, which took place on July 7 in France, is a blow to all of us at Enquet'Action, as she was always available to serve us. She made a major contribution to what has become Enquet'Action, a benchmark media outlet in Haiti.

“It's a great loss for the Haitian press. One of the finest female writers in the industry is no longer with us”, said Milo Milfort, Editor-in-Chief of Enquet'Action, who was full of praise for Francesca's excellent journalism.

Francesca was a great believer in quality journalism, in a free and independent press. Demanding and sharp, she was passionate about narrative, field and investigative journalism.

An exceptional journalist, she mastered every journalistic genre. A pen that our thousands of readers took pleasure in savouring through her sharp, hard-hitting editorials.

She held a bachelor's degree in Social Communications and a master's in Human and Social Sciences. She worked as a journalist and editorial writer for media such as AlterPresse, Le Nouvelliste and Enquet'Action. She has also worked with a popular education association.

Francesca first became interested in writing fiction at the age of nine, thanks to the tales her family told each other under the stars. Apart from literature, she adored cinema, the rain and the rara (a typical Haitian festivity). An author of short stories and contemporary novels, she thrived more on fantasy genres.

Theosmy was the author of several works. The most recent was her novel “Le Chemin de la Mort poudreuse”, released in France in September 2023. In the same year, she self-published “Zombi, pudding et mécanismes”. Also, La caverne des illuminations (Afrofuturisme now), Zist magazine number 26 and, in 2021, Nova (Géante Rouge special issue).
